About the project

The HeArts of Youth : Dance and Art therapy for social inclusion of migrant and refugee youth is a project aimed at building capacities for youth workers who work with youth at risk of exclusion, focusing in particular on migrant youth. The techniques that will be taught during the project mainly revolve around the use of dance and art therapy, as instruments to better face difficult situations and promote inclusivity. The project has begun on 18/09/2023 and will last until 17/09/2025.

Objectives

The objective of HeArts of Youth is to upskill youth workers dealing with target groups at risk of exclusion, in particular young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, teaching them the use of techniques inspired from dance and art therapy.

Cie Essevesse, based in Marseille, France, is codirected by Sicilian choreographers Antonino Ceresia & Fabio Dolce. Both artists came together to combine their knowledge and artistic visions to develop the three main missions of the company: Creation, defending the place of a dance that is both politically committed, through its attention to social change, and demanding, through the techniques they have acquired over the course of their career; Research, through the implementation of their workshops on their targeted audiences and the collaborations with professionals with different yet relevant backgrounds in order to enhance their knowledge and develop their pedagogical tools; Health, via therapeutic sessions through Dance and Art Therapy (certified RNCP). These three axes are developed via a national and international network, through local and european support. Cie Essevesse is continuously aiming to reach as many people as possible, including minorities, collaborating with partners all over Europe with a single overarching goal: together towards a better world.
